Appetizer

Golden, flaky puff pastries filled with a savory mixture of ground beef and onions, seasoned with red pepper flakes and black pepper. These vegetarian appetizers are crispy on the outside with a flavorful beef filling, perfect for a delicious, homemade treat.

Ingredients

  1. 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  2. 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  3. 1 cup of water
  4. 1 teaspoon of salt
  5. 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  6. 3.5 to 4 cups of flour (enough to make a medium-firm dough)

For the Filling:

  1. 300 grams of ground beef
  2. 4 to 5 onions
  3. Red pepper flakes
  4. Black pepper
  5. Salt

Instructions

Prepare the Filling:

  1. Place the ground beef in a pan and cook until it releases its juices and then absorbs them back.
  2. Add the diced onions and sauté well.
  3. Add the spices, mix thoroughly, and set aside to cool.

Make the Dough:

  1. Add the ingredients in order to make a medium-firm dough.
  2. Cover the dough and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Shape and Fill the Dough:

  1. Divide the dough into balls slightly larger than a walnut (I made 11 pieces).
  2. Roll out each ball on a floured surface to the size of a plate.
  3. Place the filling on one half of the dough, then fold it over to form a D shape.
  4. Trim the edges with a pastry cutter.
  5. I used the trimmed dough to make 2 more pieces.

Cook:

  1. Fry in hot oil until golden brown on both sides.
  2. Place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve:

  1. Serve hot.
