These delectable patisserie pastries, filled with cheese and baked to golden perfection, offer a warm and satisfying snack with a flaky, buttery texture.
Ingredients
- 250 grams of room temperature butter or margarine
- 2.5 cups of warm water
- 1 packet of fresh yeast
- 5 tablespoons of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of salt
- 2 egg whites (the yolks will be reserved for brushing on top)
- As much flour as needed (to be added gradually)

Instructions
- Place warm water, yeast, and sugar into a mixing bowl and stir.
- Add room temperature butter, egg whites, and salt, and mix well.
- Gradually add flour and knead until you get a slightly sticky dough.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Transfer the risen dough to a work surface and knead a little more.
- Divide the dough into 18 pieces and roll each piece into a ball. Flatten each ball slightly with your hand, place some cheese in the center, and close it up.
- Shape the dough by pressing the center lightly with the side of your hand.
- Place the shaped buns on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and let them rest for 20-25 minutes for a second rise.
- Brush the tops with the reserved egg yolk.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) until they are nicely golden brown on the top and bottom.
