- 1kg ground beef
- 1clove of garlic
- 1cup breadcrumbs
- 1to 1.5 tsp salt
- 2tsp red pepper flakes
- 1tsp black pepper
- 1tsp allspice
- 0.5tsp cumin
- 1cup peas
- Ready-made mixed vegetables
- 1to 2 tbsp olive oil
- 2tbsp tomato paste
- 1cup water
- Egg white
- 1Finely chop the onion and garlic.
- 2In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, chopped garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, salt, red pepper flakes, black pepper, allspice, and cumin.
- 3Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
- 4Prepare the filling by chopping the peas, carrots, and potato into small pieces. If using ready-made mixed vegetables, you can include them as well.
- 5Take a small portion of the meatball mixture, flatten it with your hand, and place some of the filling in the center.
- 6Close the meat mixture around the filling, shaping it into an oval or cylindrical köfte. Repeat the process for the remaining mixture.
- 7In a separate bowl, mix the olive oil, tomato paste, and water to prepare the sauce.
- 8Heat a large frying pan over medium heat and add the prepared sauce to the pan.
- 9Arrange the köfte on top of the sauce in a single layer.
- 10Cook the köfte in the sauce, turning them occasionally until they are browned and cooked through. This will take around 20-25 minutes.
- 11While cooking, occasionally brush the köfte with egg white to give them a glossy finish.
