Main Course
Enjoy a comforting bowl of goulash with tender diced beef, sautéed onions, red bell pepper, and garlic, simmered in a rich tomato base with a blend of thyme, cumin, and black pepper, thickened with flour for a hearty and flavorful main course.
Ingredients
- 500 grams diced beef
- 2 medium-sized onions
- 1 medium-sized red bell pepper
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 3 cups water
- 1 teaspoon thyme
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon ground red pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- Salt
Instructions
- Place the meat in a pot and start to brown it. When it releases its juices, cook over low heat until the water evaporates, then transfer the meat to a plate and set aside.
- Cut the onion in half, then cut each half into three pieces and chop finely. Cut the pepper into quarters and chop, and finely chop the garlic.
- Add oil to the pot and add the pepper, onion, and garlic. Sauté for 5-7 minutes.
- Add the tomato paste to the sautéed onions and peppers and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the aroma is released.
- Add the meat and spices, and stir.
- Add 3 cups of water and stir.
- In a bowl, dissolve the flour with a ladle of the soup liquid, then slowly pour it into the dish while stirring.
- After it starts to boil, simmer on low heat for about 30 minutes. Since it contains flour, stir frequently to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
- Serve the cooked dish hot.
