Dill Pastry

Delicious dill pastries with a soft, buttery dough, filled with cheddar or feta cheese, and topped with sesame seeds. Perfect for breakfast or as a savory appetizer, these pastries are golden brown and have a delightful flavor from the fresh dill.

Ingredients

  1. 2 eggs (reserve the yolk of 1 for the topping)
  2. 1 Turkish tea glass of vegetable oil
  3. 150 grams of butter (softened at room temperature)
  4. 2 tablespoons of yogurt
  5. 2 tablespoons of sugar
  6. 1 level dessert spoon of salt
  7. 1 packet of baking powder
  8. 4 cups of flour (add the flour gradually after the 3rd cup)
  9. A pinch of dill

For the Filling:

  1. Cheddar cheese or feta cheese

For the Topping:

  1. Reserved egg yolk
  2. Sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Mix all the ingredients except the dill to form a dough.
  1. Once the dough has come together, add the dill and continue kneading until it is evenly distributed throughout the dough.
  1. Take pieces of dough slightly larger than a walnut and shape them. I shaped them into ovals, but sometimes I shape them into rounds as well.
  1. If you like, you can add some feta or cheddar cheese in the center of each piece.
  1. Brush the tops with the reserved egg yolk and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
  1. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 25 minutes.
